William Perry Piper

William Perry Piper, age 81 of Canton passed away on August 4, 2026. William was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 12, 1945 to his parents, the late Esther (née Keim) and George Piper. He is the beloved and devoted husband of 50 years to Debra (née Hunsaker) Piper; loving father of three children – James (Laurie) Piper, Scott (Cindy) Piper and Mark Piper; proud grandfather of Alley (Zachari) Elmes, Rachel Piper, Alex Piper, Jason Piper, Ezri Piper and great-grandfather of Valerie.

William proudly served his country in the United States Navy and carried that same spirit of service throughout his life. He was an avid ham radio operator, a passion that allowed him to connect with people and share his knowledge and skills with others. Through his ham radio experience, he began serving the Wayne County Emergency Response Team. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when his community needed him.

For many years, William served as a leader with the Boy Scouts of America, where he had the opportunity to guide, encourage, and mentor young people. Service was more than something William did – it was a reflection of the kind of person he was. He gave generously of his time, talents, and knowledge, leaving a positive and lasting impression on the many lives he touched.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7575 North Hix Road, Westland, Michigan.

William will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always by his family, friends and all whose life was touched by him.
