William “Rex” Agar, age 76 of Canton, Michigan, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, September 12, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare neurological disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol, who stood by his side not only as a partner in life but as his devoted caregiver in recent years. Her quiet strength and deep compassion carried them both through one of the most difficult chapters of their journey together.
Born on February 4, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan, Rex lived a life defined by adventure, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the open road and open water. Whether teeing off on the golf course, bowling with loved ones, tinkering with a new project, or traveling with his wife, he approached life with energy and joy. His legacy will endure in the lives he touched, the wisdom he shared, and the happiness he found in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Rex is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Agar; his children, Rex Agar (Jacqueline) and Laurie Marchand (Maurice); his grandchildren, Darlene Marchand, Jessie Richards (Josh), Kyle Agar (Kendall), David Marchand, Cheyenne Marchand, Sarah Agar, and Rex Agar; and his many beautiful great-grandchildren. Rex also leaves behind his siblings: Ella Deaton (Doug), Chris Agar (Louise), Carol Forrest (Rick), Greg Agar, Jerry Agar (Tina), Doris Campbell (Tim), and Sharon Agar (Cindy). He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Adelia Agar, and siblings John Agar, Linda Richards, Ike Agar, and Pete Agar.
Though Rex is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the memories we cherish and the love we carry forward.
Family and friends are welcome to join Rex’s immediate family from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home located at 280 South Main Street in Plymouth, Michigan. Immediately following will be a memorial service to honor and celebrate Rex’s life.
Rex will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to - CureCurePSP | Make a GiftPSP. CurePSP is committed to raising awareness and advancing research toward a cure for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA)
