Wayne E. Durbin, born on June 18, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Plymouth, Michigan, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Wayne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Wayne’s life was marked by quiet strength, unwavering dedication, a sense of humor and deep love for his family. He found joy in life’s simple moments—especially the evening walks he shared with his beloved wife, Kathy, hand in hand, a tradition that spoke to the enduring love they built since their marriage on February 16, 1968.
A Vietnam Veteran, Wayne served his country honorably in the United States Army. His sense of duty and loyalty extended beyond his service, reflected in his strong work ethic, the steadfast care and compassion he showed his family and friends throughout his life.
Wayne had a lifelong love of travel and sports, particularly golf and baseball. Whether he was out on the course, at the corner of Michigan and Trumbell or enjoying a game from home, athletics brought him both joy and connection.
His legacy of love, humility, and kindness lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughters, Kimberly (Kurt) Smith and Lynn (Chris) Capen; his grandchildren, Tristin Smith, Tiernan Smith, Joey Capen, and Sydney Capen; his sisters, Madeline (George) Szor and Marilyn Martinez; and many other family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.
The family will be holding a visitation on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM, both taking place at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home located at 280 S.
