Virginia "Gee Gee" Messner

Virginia “Gee Gee” Messner, age 78 passed away on June 28, 2024.

She was born in Detroit on September 14, 1945 to her parents, Dorothy (née Whitney) and James Wallace. She is the beloved and devoted wife of the late Gary Messner who passed away on October 10, 2017; loving mother of two children – Bradley Messner and David (Natalie) Messner and proud grandmother of Olivia and Elise. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her brother James Wallace. She is predeceased by brother, Donald, and sister, Barbara.

Gee Gee retired after a very successful 45 years with Chase Bank. The first part of her career was as an administrative assistant. Her dedication and hard work eventually led to a position as a Loan Officer for the company. She was very proud of her career and the good friends that she made while with the bank.

While Gee Gee was proud of her career, she was most satisfied with the time that she spent with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her favorite times were centered around being with her family. Later in life, she loved having everyone together at her house up North for summer vacations and Christmas. Gee Gee was very sociable and had a wide circle of friends, many of them for a number of decades, some lifelong. She treasured these relationships.

In her free time, Gee Gee enjoyed being outdoors, either relaxing on her deck or on the boat with Gary. She also liked working on crossword puzzles, and she was an avid reader of mysteries, a lifelong habit that she shared with her dad. The two would often swap books and talk about some of their favorite stories and writers. And last but not least, Gee Gee loved watching Jeopardy!, rarely missing a show over the past 40 years.
