Vincent W. Davies

December 23, 1932 — January 3, 2022

Vincent W. Davies, age 89 of Westland, passed away on January 3, 2022. He was born on December 23, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, the late Lilian (née Sutton) and Vincent Davies.

Vincent is the beloved and devoted husband of 55 years to the late Joanne Davies who passed away on March 30, 2020. He is the loving father of Michelle Davies and pre-deceased in 2011 by his son, Michael Davies; proud grandfather of Melissa Davies, Kyle Davies and Carter Davies. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his brother Thomas Davies and sister, Phyllis Howe.

Vincent proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his discharge, he enjoyed a successful career in the Automotive industry as a Tool Maker.

Vincent loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. He enjoyed the fresh air and the smell of dinner cooking on an open fire. Camping also was a connection to nature for Vincent and it was a great way to see the stars at night away from the bright evening lights of the city. Camping and fishing go hand-in-hand. Vincent loved the challenge involved in catching that elusive fish and waiting for that tug on his fishing pole. He loved to “hear” the silence while watching the surface of the water and keeping an eye on the hook. And when the fish was caught, it brought with it the great excitement and maybe even a cooked meal over his campfire.

When he wasn’t camping and fishing, he enjoyed watching westerns. Many western movies are set in the southwest United States taking the viewer to some stunningly beautiful spaces in the outdoors. Perhaps it was again, that connection to the beauty of nature that made watching western movies and TV shows so enjoyable for Vincent. And who doesn’t love a little snack while watching TV? Anybody can eat popcorn while watching TV, but Vincent loved his “Little Debbie’s”. They were one of his favorite treats.

Vincent also enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles and mind games and an occasional trip to the casino. Crossword puzzles, mind games and gambling can be similar as all of them can bring you a reward whether it is the feeling of accomplishment you have after finally solving the puzzle or the crossword or winning a few dollars at a slot machine.
