Timothy Emmett “Tim” Reed, 66, of Plymouth, Michigan, our beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025, surrounded by family members.
Tim was born June 16, 1958, in Detroit, and was the oldest of eight children of Emmett V. Reed, Jr. and Patricia Casey Reed. After graduating from Bloomfield Hills Andover High School, Tim studied accounting at Oakland University, earning his master’s degree from Walsh College, and studied internationally at Nanzan University in Japan.
He married the love of his life, Kelly McQuaid Reed, on October 20, 1990. Together, they raised two children, Brendan and Meghan -his pride and joy. Tim’s career was a huge success having worked for many Fortune 50 companies in the C-suite. When he wasn’t solving complex business challenges, he cherished spending time with his family and at his cabin at Lost Lake Woods Club, in Lincoln, Michigan, where he vacationed throughout his life.
Tim will be remembered for his generosity of time & spirit, his love of the arts, and his quick wit. He had a natural talent for leadership and organization, often taking charge of family matters, from shopping trips and travel to managing details. As a devoted husband, son, and older brother to seven siblings, he provided unwavering support and guidance. His presence and responsibility laid a strong foundation for his family, leaving a lasting legacy of care and dependability.
He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Kelly; son Brendan; daughter Meghan; brothers Mike (Mamie), Patrick (Linda), John (Beth), and Jimmy (Suzanne); sisters Julie (Diana Jaffe), Nancy (Jim) O’Brien, and Susan (Dan) Quinn; sister-in-law Kerin (Brad) Borland; brother-in-laws Keith (Lauren) McQuaid and Gene (Michele) McQuaid; mother-in-law Terry McQuaid; and 23 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Victory in Northville, Michigan (133 Orchard Dr, Northville, MI 48167), followed by a funeral mass. A reception will be held immediately after at Meadowbrook Country Club, 40941 Eight Mile Road, Northville, MI 48167.
