Theresa M. Votruba, a cherished matriarch of her family and a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 2, 2025, in Canton, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 8, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Theresa lived a vibrant life filled with unwavering devotion to her family and profound faith.
The foundation of her legacy rests upon the strength of her remarkable family. She was the nurturing mother to her devoted children: Joseph (Sandy) Votruba, Theresa (Philip) Harrier, Mark (Mary) (Dawn) Votruba, and Michael (Ruth) Votruba.
Theresa took immense pride in her grandchildren Steph (Jana) Harrier, Marc Harrier, Allyson (Kevin) Oyler, Aaron (Kelli) Votruba, and Father Joshua Votruba. Great grandchildren Greyson (Votruba), Adelaide (Harrier-Lemenu), Isabella (Oyler), Spencer (Votruba), and Hadden (Votruba) brought her great joy during her life. All of Theresa’s grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart, as she was a constant source of love and wisdom for them.
She was also a beloved sister, deeply cherished by her surviving brothers Richard (Barbara) Truskowski, John (Ann) Truskowski, and Stanley (Rosemary) Truskowski. The bonds forged among siblings are a testament to Theresa's caring nature and her commitment to familial ties.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, John and Stella Truskowski, sisters Jeanette (Michael) Jacek, Connie (John) Polinsky, and brothers Joseph (Jeanne) Truskowski, Leonard (Darlene) Truskowski, and Edward (Evelyn) Truskowski, who all instilled in her the values of love, compassion, and community that she carried throughout her life.
Her spirit will continue to shine brightly through her family's lives and traditions, as they gather to remember her during a series of memorial services.
