Ted L. Byrne

Theodore (Ted) L. Byrne, of Van Buren Township, a beloved husband and father passed away on December 4, 2023 at the age of 64. Ted was born in Rogers City, Michigan and grew up in Lansing and Livonia. He has three brothers, Tim, Tom and Terry Byrne of Michigan and a sister, Karen Byrne-Essif of Arizona.

He is survived by his wife of almost 22 years, Lana Byrne, whom he adored. Ted was a devoted father to his large blended family:  Amy (Martin) Gil, Clinton “Cap” Byrne, Kelly (Rick Farrugia) Kippola-Farrugia, Theresa Olson, Erin (John) Scheibelhut, Jessica (Ryan Seaford) Olson, and Robert Olson III (Stephanie Olson).  He was a beloved grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of 4.  He is preceded in death by his two sons, Patrick and Lance Byrne.

He was honored to officiate two of his daughters’ marriage ceremonies recently and was very proud of his remodeling projects for himself and his family members.  He was always up for a good round of golf and ready to travel.  But he will always be remembered in the family for mastering the skill of long distance running; completing two full marathons and numerous other half marathons over a span of 25 plus years. 

Ted made a long career as a QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental) Manager for a United Kingdom based engineering firm for 29 years.   His recent United Kingdom Manager wrote: “what was so special about Ted was his sincerity, good humour and always on hand to help others”.  He had endearing qualities that made it easy for him to have many wonderful friends that will truly miss him in this "wonderful world".

Ted referred to himself as "living the dream", and he left a lasting impression on the people that knew him. 

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Connection Church, 3855 South Sheldon Road, Canton, Michigan beginning at 11:30 A.M.  Ted will be in-state from 11:00 A.M. at the Church until the time of the Funeral Service.

Ted will be interred at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth, Michigan in the spring of 2024.
