Steven Arthur Renaldi

With deep sadness we share the news of the passing of Steven Renaldi. Steve was a devoted husband, father, and beloved and respected member of the Plymouth community whose kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew him. He passed away suddenly on January 24, 2026, at 56 years of age.

Everyone who knew Steve understood that family was at the center of his life. Steve was the cherished and loving husband of 24 years to Bryn Gerich. Steve and Bryn built a beautiful life together centered on their four children, nurturing each other and focused on their family and their community. They travelled widely in their early years of marriage and often dreamed about the travels they planned in their future. Steve and Bryn both knew and understood the great blessing of their marriage and family. They were rarely apart in the 32 years they had together. They gained strength from each other in all they did.

As a proud father to Perrin, Mira, Theo, and Quentin, Steve never missed a chance to support his children in all their activities. With his oldest son, Perrin, Steve connected through long discussions on history and politics, as well as planning for his future. He also treasured time working one-on-one with Perrin, teaching and sharing his knowledge of home repairs and building projects. Steve shared a love of track and cross country with his daughter Mira. From training with the cross country girls during camp, to watching and cheering at meets, to helping Mira identify the next great track opportunity, he was so very proud of her hard work and resulting accomplishments. Both dedicated sports fanatics, Steve and his son Theo spent hours strategizing and reviewing Theo’s soccer and basketball exploits, and planning how to open up avenues for his future. Steve loved nothing more than just watching Theo on the basketball court implementing the fundamentals and techniques he learned from his Dad. Even though so much of Steve’s time was spent coaching Quentin’s basketball teams, he was perhaps most enthusiastic about Quentin’s mathematical abilities and his keen interest in the stock market and investing that mirrored his own. No one could fail to see Steve’s joy in watching his hard work pay off in coaching Quentin and his friends to basketball glory.

Steve was a loyal son to his parents, Linda and David Renaldi, and dedicated to his younger brother Brian. Together they were a tight-knit crew. Steve and Brian loved the freedom of growing up on a lake while Linda kept the family ship together and running smoothly. Steve and Brian enjoyed many different sports with their parents as avid fans and supporters. And they had much opportunity to cheer: Steve was captain of his high school cross country team, a center for his basketball team, a member of the record-holding and state-ranked 4 x 400m relay team, and an active contributor to the Grand Valley State University track team. Aside from sports, Dave taught both boys how to fix anything, and subsequently Steve rarely needed to hire help for anything at home. Steve shared a special relationship with his brother Brian that encompassed shared sports interests, home projects, and a clever sense of humor. They even started several small businesses together. Their closeness and similar thinking could be seen in Pictionary battles where they remained undefeated.

Steve and Bryn made their life together in downtown Plymouth and built strong connections with friends, neighbors, and their local and spiritual community. Steve was passionate about serving the community and contributed his leadership and financial strategy to several organizations. He served on boards and key committees of the Plymouth-Canton Educational Foundation, the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth, Red Cross SE Michigan Chapter, as well as president of the UM Ross Alumni Club of SE Michigan. He also served the City of Plymouth as a Charter Commission member and Historic District Commission chair. Additionally, for over 20 years Steve advocated for nonprofit board service by organizing nonprofit training events and introducing candidates to boards. Steve was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth, serving as an elder, sitting on session, and acting as the church treasurer for two decades.

Steve was the Director of Investments at GEM Asset Management on Main Street in Plymouth. He was introduced to investing at a young age. His keen interest in the economy and the financial markets led him to earn degrees in finance and mathematics from Grand Valley State and then to the University of Michigan to earn his MBA. He had more than three decades of hands-on investment management experience, including owning his own financial management firm, before he joined GEM.

As well as his professional investment experience, Steve enjoyed researching and writing. Through the years, his op-ed articles on a wide range of subjects appeared in online magazines and in local Detroit-area newspapers, including the Detroit Free Press.

Steve is the beloved and devoted husband to Bryn Gerich; the very proud father of four children - Perrin, 21; Mira 19; Theo, 15; and Quentin, 13. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his parents David and Linda (Brandon) Renaldi; his brother, Brian (Amy) Renaldi, and their children, Cooper (Kendyll) and Samantha Renaldi. He will also will be missed by his sister-in-law Karna Gerich (Rafael) Cestero and their children Alex, Eliana, and Tomás Cestero, as well as his mother-in-law, Carol Gerich.

Friends and family may gather on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 701 Church Street, Plymouth, MI.
