Shane M. Mroz

Shane M. Mroz, born on February 29, 1980, in Port Huron, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was a cherished individual whose presence deeply touched the lives of all who knew him.

Shane is lovingly remembered by his devoted parents, Judy Mroz, Donald Mroz, and stepmother, Susan Lapine. His enduring relationship with girlfriend, Christy Zantop, brought great joy into his life. He embraced Christy’s children, Kaitlyn and Connor, as his own, forging bonds of love and support that spoke to his generous spirit. Additionally, Shane is survived by many uncles, aunts, and cousins, all of whom held him dear. Shane also loved his faithful dog, Maximus, a great companion embodying the loyal and steadfast nature that characterized Shane himself.

Shane had a huge heart, caring for people who had less than he or were downtrodden; likewise, he was a lover of animals, saving several and adopting others. Shane also had a great sense of humor. He often took great joy out of making his parents and his girlfriend the targets of his jokes. Shane was a whiz at math and earned an associate’s degree in electrical engineering. For many years Shane owned and operated his own remodeling business. He then used his math and IT skills doing algorithms for several organizations. Recently Shane achieved one of his dreams of being accepted to MIT where he was excelling in an online program in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Besides math, Shane always stayed in shape, working out most days of the week, running, biking, and lifting weights. He was also a lover of good food. As a youngster he loved seafood, and as an adult became quite an excellent cook. He ate healthily and encouraged others to do so as well. He loved fishing, and while living on or visiting Nantucket it was a must to go out on Mr. T’s deep-sea fishing boat where he would bring back striped bass and numerous other fish.

The community will have the opportunity to celebrate Shane’s life during a visitation at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, located at 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, MI 48170, on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service to honor his memory will follow on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the same location, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor the memory of Shane Mroz and his love of children and animals in need are invited to consider a contribution to Shriners Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Humane Society of Huron Valley. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Shane Mroz’s life was marked by profound love and meaningful relationships. As those who knew him gather to remember his spirit, his legacy will endure in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to share in his journey.
