Ruth Louise Miller

Ruth Louise Miller, age 87 of Plymouth passed away on November 21, 2022.  She was born on April 12, 1935 in Grassy Cove, Tennessee to Lee and Sarah Mae (née Bristow) Smith.

Ruth is the beloved and devoted mother of five children – Raymond (Renee) Miller, Susan Miller, Randall Miller, Robert Miller and Jennifer Miller; proud grandmother of Sarah (Brent) Fike, Jason Probert, Rebecca (Scott) Bernick, Kate Miller and James (Helen) Miller and great-grandmother of John, Sophia, Evelyn, Arianna, Holly, Bentley, Leo, Sloane and River.  Ruth also leaves her grandpups Pearl, Rex, Colt, Luc, Bowie, Walter and Lulu.   She was preceded in death by her former husband, Wheeler Miller.

Ruth was the youngest child of 7 growing up in the valley of Grassy Cove, Tennessee.   She talked fondly of her childhood days running across the cow pastures while on her way to J.C. Kemmer’s Store to get a moon pie and a RC Cola for a nickel.    Those were the days! A good student, salutatorian of her class, Ruth married our father on her high school graduation day and headed to Detroit seeking greater work opportunities.

Ruth went to college after raising 5 children.  In 1984, she graduated from Henry Ford Community College with a degree in Nursing. She was most proud of this achievement.     Ruth went on to work as an RN for the next 25 years.  She also found time for her hobbies that included jewelry making, photography and enjoying meals with her family.   She was well known for her chicken and dumplings and delicious banana pudding.

In earlier years, there were many trips to Tennessee to enjoy boating on Watts Bar Lake with stays at Groover’s Cabin.    In later years, taking in the beach, the palm trees and restaurants at Fort Myers Beach became a favorite.     Ruth loved her family and will always be missed by her family, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
