Ronald Walter Brodzik, Sr. passed away March 12, 2023.  Ron was born December 30, 1932 to his late parents, Walter and Sophia (née Pacanowski) Brodzik in Detroit, Michigan. He was raised in the old Poletown area of Detroit where his faith journey began attending St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic School & church. After graduating Northeastern High School in Detroit, Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served 4 years, including 1 year of combat in the hills of Korea.

After being honorably discharged Ron came home to find the love of his life Janet Brugman, who just happened to live a few houses down the street from him. Ron & Jan were married on October 13, 1956, starting a new chapter in both their lives raising 7 children in Plymouth, Michigan. Ron provided for his family by working at the General Motors Hydra-Matic plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan for 36 years while also selling real estate in the metro Detroit area. 

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, who passed away on December 28, 2014.  They were the loving parents of seven children, the late Ron Brodzik, Jr., Linda Dickinson, Randy (Laura) Brodzik, Laura (Bill Campbell) Brodzik, Jerry (Becky) Brodzik, Steven (Mandy) Brodzik, and Julie (Brad) Emmett.  Ron was a loving grandpa to 18 grandchildren – Natalie (Matt) Micale, Kimmie (Dan) Ervans, Ashley Dickinson, Kyle Brodzik, Simon Brodzik, Korey Brodzik, Jacob (Dee Dee) Brodzik, Nicole (Ryan) Peterson, Ryleigh (Ken) Campbell-Tsuchiya, Amanda Brodzik, Lane Brodzik, Katie (Ian) Dettloff, Louis (Kacie) Wilkinson, Justin Brodzik, Wyatt Emmett, Warwick Brodzik, Levi Emmett, and Cole Emmett and great grandfather of Jaxon, Lukas, Baylin, Chloe, Lucy, Maxwell, Henry, Kellin, Rina and Beck.  Also survived by Sister-In-Law, Claire and Connie Brugman.

Ron was also preceded in death by his late Daughters-In-Law, Becky and Judy Brodzik.

Ron was the consummate family man and loved to spend time with his extended family at the family cottage up north on Indian Lake that Ron provided.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Wednesday, March 15 from 4p to 8p and Thursday, March 16 from 3p to 8p with a Rosary service at 7p.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Kenneth Catholic Church on Friday, March 17.  Visitation at the church will be from 9:30a to 10a and Mass will begin at 10a.

Those who wish to honor the memory of Ronald W. Brodzik, Sr. are invited to consider a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

Contribution envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
