PLYMOUTH

Raymond “Joe” LaBeau

Raymond “Joe” LaBeau, born December 20, 1962, in Wyandotte, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, in Livonia, Michigan. Joe’s life was defined by his love of family, music, and the lifelong friendships he built along the way.

A proud Plymouth resident, Joe called Old Village home for more than 30 years. He loved his community and could often be found strolling through the neighborhood, enjoying its unique charm, shops, and the people who made it special. He also had a deep appreciation for the city of Detroit and everything it had to offer.

Music was the heart of Joe’s life. Whether performing on his beloved saxophone or sharing the stage with one of the many bands he played with over the years, there was nowhere he felt more at home than in front of an audience. His passion for performing brought joy not only to him but to everyone fortunate enough to hear him play.

Joe is survived by his devoted sister, Susan (Dan) Lough; his former wife, Lisa Long; and his brother-in-law, Keith Turczyn.

His legacy also lives on through his cherished nieces and nephews: Jacqueline (Carson) Beauchaine, Becky Lough (Markese Burton), Stephanie LaBeau, Samantha LaBeau, Emily Jo Recker, Daniel Recker, Timothy (Sara) Recker, Dylan Monteith, and Matthew Long. Each was blessed by Uncle Joe’s love, encouragement, and unforgettable spirit, and they will forever treasure the memories they shared.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Raymond LaBeau and Mary Jo LaBeau; his brothers, Christopher LaBeau and Michael LaBeau; and his sister-in-law, Sherri LaBeau.

Joe truly lived life to the fullest. In addition to his love of music, he was an avid fan of the Detroit Red Wings and University of Michigan football. He enjoyed working on his prized Corvette and Jeep and never missed an opportunity to spend time doing the things he loved. Those who knew Joe will remember his generosity, kindness, infectious sense of humor, showmanship, loyalty, and the genuine friendship he extended to everyone he met. His enthusiasm for life and unwavering passion for music left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A visitation to honor Joe’s life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan 48170. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, celebrate Joe’s life, and give thanks for the countless memories he created.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Joe’s memory are invited to make a contribution to Angela Hospice or the Plymouth Marching Band. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Though Joe’s music has come to a close, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
