Phil Harrier passed away on September 10, 2026, in Livonia, Michigan, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on August 16, 1957, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Kenneth and Gladys (Jones) Harrier.
Phil will be remembered with love by his wife of 44 years, Theresa Harrier; his children, Steph (Jana Lemenu) Harrier and Marc Harrier; and his granddaughter, Adelaide, who lovingly called him “Pops” and brought tremendous joy to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Dale (Debbie) Harrier; his sister, Janet (Paul) Malhoit; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Phil earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and went on to build a career in database management, where he worked as a team leader. He retired December 2019.
Phil was happiest putzing around at home, especially in his garden or workshop. He loved making things with his hands, figuring out how things worked, and always seemed to have another home improvement project underway. Whether he was building, repairing, tinkering, or finding one more thing to fix, Phil was most at home when he was busy making something better.
As most of his family and friends knew, Phil was rarely without a “dad joke” at the ready, and they could always count on his particular brand of humor and the inevitable groans that followed.
Phil loved to bowl and looked forward to meeting up with his group of friends every Friday morning. Those weekly outings became a cherished part of his routine and a source of friendship, laughter, and camaraderie.
Above all, Phil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered not for grand gestures, but for the countless little ways he showed up for the people he loved. His family will think of him whenever they see his handiwork around their homes, a lasting reminder of his generosity, his care, and the love he put into the things he did for others.
