Patricia "Patty" Ann Stram

Patricia (Patty) Ann Stram, age 60 of Traverse City and formerly of Redford Township passed away on September 11, 2022.  She was born in Livonia on September 27, 1961 to her parents, the late Fred and Dorothy (née Lang) Stram.

Patty is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings, Deb, Mike (Rosie), Craig, Bruce (Pat), Karl (Jeanette), Paul (Mindy) and Christine (Rob).  Patricia was also the loving Aunt of 11 nieces and nephews.

She was born with trisomy 21, also known as Down’s syndrome.  It was our family Physician  who advised us, “She’s no different than anyone else - treat her that way.”

Patty loved to swim, run, play poly hockey, basketball, bowling, painting, camping, fishing, dancing and cuddle with her family and pets.  Patty had many friends that cared about her.  Her real passion was singing and dancing.  She spent many hours dancing with all of her friends both here in metro Detroit and Traverse City.

She loved her entire family very much.  She was a kind, thoughtful and loving person that lived her life to the max.  Her hugs were the absolute best!

Patty was a proud Christian that attended church regularly and prayed for all of us.  She was more than happy to say grace at our Thanksgiving dinners and remembered to thank everyone in her life.  She would finish by saying, “Jesus loves us all.”  Christmastime was spent in Florida with her mom and dad, brothers and sisters, spouses, nieces and nephews.  She loved to receive gifts and looked forward to spending time with her Florida family.

Her final 14 years were spent with her sister in Traverse City.  Her life continued to flourish while enjoying camping, painting, and traveling with her sister, Deb.  She learned about Native Michigan people and loved to dance right along with the tribe where she was welcomed.

In her final years, Patty succumbed to dementia.  Her sister, Deb gave all of her love and special care to her every single day of her illness.  Deb said, “I would do it all over again.”

Patty was our family angel sent from heaven above.
