Pamela Mafalda Berghoff

Pamela Mafalda Berghoff passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 19, 2026.

Pam was born to Henry (Hank) and Glenda Berghoff on May 21, 1968. Pam was a life long resident of Plymouth, Michigan. She loved Plymouth - probably more than another resident ever could. As the last self-proclaimed townie of her generation, Pam frequented many Plymouth businesses as a much-loved regular. Her favorite pizza was Primos, her favorite breakfast spot was Bodes, and her favorite restaurant/bar hangout was Hermann’s Olde Town Grill. At these establishments, she made life long friends of all ages and all interests.

Music, of course, was Pam’s main interest. As a young woman, she followed many bands across the country with her favorite band being Soul Asylum. She had an encyclopedic mind of music facts and trivia that was surpassed by no one.

Truth be told, no one was a better friend than Pam. She had so many amazing traits: blunt honesty, unwavering support, and the ability to make us laugh through our tears, to name just a few. She loved reminiscing with her friends as well as hearing about our future plans, goals, and dreams.

The number of people who loved Pam and considered themselves to be her best friend was vast and wonderfully diverse. As her friend, you simply had to understand that, yes, Pam could be a hundred people’s best friend; she was simply that loving and extraordinary.

It is rare for someone to create their own family, but Pam had a true gift for it. Even at her end, she introduced her friends to each other and subtly encouraged us to form new relationships that would last long after she was gone.

Pam’s love of animals went far beyond her beloved dogs and cats and trickled over into her free time where she tirelessly volunteered at various bully dog rescues, donated to numerous local duck sanctuaries, and supported other nonprofits that aligned with her passion for animals. Even when she was not actively volunteering with animals, she was thinking about them and encouraging others to donate time and money to neglected/abused animals.

Pam’s career as a probation officer was also a genuine extension of her personality. She held the probationers assigned to her accountable for their actions, and she tried her best to help them discover a positive path for their futures. Pam seemed to know when someone was going to succeed and when someone was going to fail; while she hoped for the former, when one of her probationers failed, she encouraged him/her to begin again at square one. Pam was always pragmatic - always fair.

Pam is survived by her close friends Jenny Miller, Cindy Marshall-Gillom, Betty Folgmann, Erica Tierney, Brian Heidenfelder, Katie Norris-Blazek and the entire Blazek-Norris-Vaughn family. She is also lovingly survived by her brother and sister-in-law Ed and Diane Berghoff and their children.

Pam left this world with a great fight and a great hope to live more, to love more, to relish more dog and cat snuggles, and to have more laughs. Although her life was cut short, her zeal, her beauty (inside and out), and her amazing energy will never be forgotten. To honor Pam’s legacy of love, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local rescue or no- kill shelter in her name.

A memorial gathering will be held for Pam at Hermann’s Lower Town Grill on February 22 at 12:00 noon.
