Michael James Hosch

Michael James Hosch, a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all, passed away on November 3, 2023, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born on April 27, 1983, in Detroit, Michigan. Michael's family and friends are heartbroken by the loss of this larger than life and kind-hearted individual.

Michael was known for his vibrant, fun-loving, and caring personality. He possessed the remarkable gift of making friends wherever he went, and he never met a stranger. He always went out of his way to help others, even if it meant fixing plumbing issues in the middle of the night. He had the ability to find humor in life’s challenges, reminding us to never take ourselves too seriously, and perhaps even encouraging us to opt to wear that obnoxious golf shirt or ski-suit.

In his free time, Michael enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, specifically hunting, golfing, fishing, and skiing. Some of his best memories were hunting with his uncle, brothers, nephews, and friends.  As a dedicated Detroit sports fan, he enthusiastically cheered on the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and Wolverines.

Family meant everything to Michael. His late father Mark held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his beloved mother Debbie Hosch and cherished siblings: Mark (Alicia), Matthew, Mitchell (Amanda), and MacKenzie (Dean) Guzman. Michael's long-time girlfriend, Thea Bude, also mourns the loss of her loving partner.

Michael's uncles and aunts were always supportive pillars throughout his life. They include Brenda (Mike) McKeehan and David (Laura) Anderson. Additionally, he shared many joyful memories with his cousins: Kate (Thomas) Bowman, Emma McKeehan, Sam Anderson, and Alex Anderson.

The love extended beyond immediate family members to numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Mike: Bryce (Taylor) Graves, Maxwell Hosch, Emmett Hosch, Avery Guzman, Emery Guzman, Dean Guzman, Drake Guzman, Bryce Graves II, and Beau Graves.

Completing his family were his loyal dogs, Deuce and Dottie, who provided a keen sense of smell to help track those deer. And his cat, Amelie, who ruled the household and would always cuddle up for weekend naps.

Though Michael may have left us too soon, he lived life to the fullest with all his family and friends.  His loss leaves a void in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Let us remember Michael with smiles on our faces as he was a builder, comedian, and the master of making life just a little more fun.
