Michael Scott Grundy, known affectionately as "Gumby," passed away on September 5, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and devotion. He was born on April 30, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to his loving parents the late John and Kathleen (nee' Murphrey) Grundy.

Throughout his career, Michael worked as a Shop Manager in the manufacturing industry. With dedication and a strong work ethic, he made significant contributions to the companies he served. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

But Michael's impact extended far beyond his professional life. He lived his life with warmth and kindness, always putting the needs of others before his own. As a husband and father, he showed unwavering love and support to his family.

Paula was the love of Michael's life, and they shared 24 incredible years together. Their bond was built on trust, laughter, and deep understanding. Alongside Paula, Michael raised a beautiful family filled with love and joy.

He will be forever cherished by his three children: Samantha Wilson, Michele Grundy, Anthony Grundy; step-son Bradley Aiello. Michael also leaves behind a legacy of seven beloved grandchildren: Justin Wilson, Hunter Hurchanik, Mark Grundy, Autumn Hurchanik; the late Aubrynn Grundy; Logan Aiello, and Sophia Grundy.

As an adoring great-grandfather to Elijah Wilson, Michael savored the special moments shared with this youngest addition to the family. His love and wisdom will continue to guide and inspire Elijah in the years to come.

Extended children include Myles (Sarah) Musser, and Steven (Lindsay) Aiello as well as extended grandchildren Liam Musser, Gavin Musser, Rosalynn Musser, Dean Michael Musser; Roman Michael Aiello. His heart overflowed with pride for each one of them.

Michael's friends always found solace and reassurance in his comforting presence. He possessed a unique ability to listen without judgment, offering genuine advice and heartfelt encouragement. Michael's friendship was a priceless gift that left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

A Visitation in honor of Michael's life will take place at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home located at 280 S. Main St, Plymouth, Michigan, on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Another visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, starting at 2:00 PM until his Funeral Service, which aims to celebrate Michael's life and legacy, beginning at 7:00 PM. 

In these difficult times of mourning, it's essential for all who knew Michael to come together as a community. Together, we can cherish the memories he left behind and find solace in our shared love for him.

Michael Scott Grundy was not only a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; he was also an extraordinary soul who touched countless lives with his kindness and compassion.  He will truly be missed but never forgotten—a shining light that will forever illuminate our hearts with love and memories.
