Melvin C. Gutherie, Jr.

Melvin C. Gutherie, Jr. age 91 of Plymouth passed away on October 22, 2023.  Melvin was born on June 10, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, the late Vera (née Gunnel) and Melvin Gutherie. 

He is the beloved and devoted husband of the late Patricia Jean Gutherie; loving father of Melvin C. (Bernadette) Gutherie, III, Sharon R. (Kevin) Galliker and William T. (Debbie) Gutherie; proud grandfather of Randall (DeAnna) Gutherie, Chelsea (Chris) Galea, Samuel Gutherie, Megan Gutherie, Matthew Gutherie and great-grandfather of Cameron Gutherie, Emerson Gutherie, Fitzgerald McLaughlin and Grace Galea.  He is pre-deceased by his parents and his siblings, Rosemary Gutherie and Thomas Gutherie.

Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Later, he became the owner of M. C. Gutherie Lumber Company of Livonia, Michigan.  He was also a lifelong Mason.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

A Funeral Service will be held at Schrader-Howell on Thursday, October 26, 2023 beginning at 11:00 A.M. and will be officiated by The Reverend Brad Terhune.

Melvin will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth, Michigan.
