Maureen Wegryn of Plymouth passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on November 7, 1934, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Helen (née Kozdron) and John Deely.
Maureen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Dr. Richard S. Wegryn, M.D. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.
She is survived by her four children: Judith (David) Daugherty, Stephen (Nancy) Wegryn, Margaret (Steven) Minier, and Richard (Ann) Wegryn. Maureen was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren—Steven (Jenna) Minier, Thomas Minier, Stephanie (Stuart) Machisak, Lindsay (James) De Irala, Cheryl Wegryn, Richard Wegryn, Jonathan (Hannah) Wegryn, Sophie Wegryn, Adam Tellier, Danielle Tellier, Bella Wood, and Nikko Wood—and 11 great-grandchildren: Beckett, Graham, Ethan, Alexander, Hannah, Jack, Mila, Maddox, Luke, Camryn, and Aidan. Her family and friends will forever cherish her warmth, wit, and unwavering love.
A lifelong lover of golf, Maureen’s passion for the game was an essential part of her life. She was a proud and devoted member of Meadowbrook Country Club since 1974, where she formed lasting friendships and competed in district golf for many years. Her grace, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit were admired by all who had the privilege of knowing her, both on and off the course.
A funeral Mass will be held on June 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 N. Territorial Road, Plymouth, Michigan. A private celebration of Maureen’s life will follow, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the remarkable life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Humane Society.
