Mary (Marie) P. Samfilippo, a cherished member of her community and devoted family woman, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in Canton, Michigan. Born on March 20, 1948, in Dearborn, Michigan, Marie lived a life marked by dedication, love, and commitment, leaving behind a legacy that touches all who knew her.
Marie’s personal life was equally rich and meaningful. She shared a loving marriage of 52 years with her beloved husband, Jim. Together, they built a family grounded in love and support. Marie was a proud mother to Jim (Yvette) Samfilippo III, and Alicia (Gregory Rogers) Samfilippo, whose achievements and happiness remained close to her heart. Her warmth and kindness extended to her grandchildren—Anthony Samfilippo, Lexington Rogers, Ramon and Ysabelle Rios—each of whom carried forward her spirit in their lives.
Family ties also included her brother, Nick (Missy) Welsch, as well as many nieces and nephews who lovingly remember her presence. Marie was predeceased by her sister, Irene Kneeshaw, whose memory she honored throughout her life.
Professionally, Marie found fulfillment and joy in her role as an Analyst at Ford Motor Company. Her career was defined by her insightful approach and steadfast dedication, qualities that earned her respect and admiration throughout her tenure.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Tuesday, April 14, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, Michigan from 11 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Those who wish to honor the memory of Mary P. Samfilippo are invited to consider a memorial contribution to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Galleria Officentre, Suite 400, Southfield, Michigan 48034 or Melanoma Research Foundation, 1420 K Street, N.W. - 7th Floor, Washington, DC 20005. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Marie’s enduring faith, compassion, and the love she generously shared with family and friends stand as a testament to the remarkable woman she was. Her memory will be cherished always by those who had the honor of knowing her.
