Maria Concetta Nicola Teresa Sanitate (Mary) Mulhern, 93 died at her home in Canton, Michigan on March 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 8,1930 on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception to Antonia DelVecchio and Domenico Sanitate, she graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1948.

She was married to the love of her life John (Jack) Mulhern on September 11, 1954 in Detroit. Mary was pre-deceased by Jack as well as her mother, Antonia, father Domenico, sisters Lucy Taylor and Linda Dishman, and baby John G. Mulhern, Jr. 

Mary is survived by her children: Kathleen (Paul) Rizzo, Ann Mulhern (Raymond Maturo), Daniel Mulhern (Jennifer Granholm), Mary Susan Mulhern (Cameron Dilley), Patrick Mulhern (Kathy Shaw), Jim (Jeanne) Mulhern and Sheila Mulhern; grandchildren:  Regina (Bart Buczynski), Margaret (Daniel) Velisek, Joseph Rizzo, Erin Maturo, Claire Maturo, Amelia Maturo (Nirala Singh), Gigi Maturo (Brenden Merriman), Ryn Mulhern Bennefield (Alexis), Cecelia (Damian) Grantinez, Jack Mulhern, Isabel Mulhern, Miles Dilley, Susannah Mulhern, Moira Mulhern, Ian Mulhern, and Olivia Mulhern; great-grandchildren: Maximus and Zion Maturo Anderson, Dylan and Lily Grantinez, and Jacob Buczynski. 

She is also survived by her siblings: Giovanni (Susan) Sanitate, Frank (Terre) Sanitate, Margaret (Merrill) Budor, Veronica Sanitate (Bill Middleton), and many nieces and nephews. 

Mary served as President and CEO of “Jack and Mary Mulhern Enterprises” from 1954 until her last breath. In this role, she was mother, listener, confidant, friend, grandmother and great- grandmother. She lived a life of service through her church, as a choir member, parish council member and as coordinator and volunteer of outreach to the less fortunate. She loved learning, was an avid reader, a gardener and in her younger days, loved dancing, bowling, and travels with Jack.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, Michigan.  Mary will be instate at 9:30 A.M. until the start of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M.
