Marjorie Christine Cranford, 88, of Plymouth, Michigan passed peacefully on June 14, 2025 in the home where she and her husband raised their four children.
She is survived by daughter, Lori Mifsud (Brighton, MI); two sons, James Cranford (Hui; Ann Arbor, Michigan) and Joel Cranford (Murfreesboro, Tennessee); daughter-in-law Stephanie Cranford (Hudson, Michigan); brother Nicholas Baggett (Westland, Michigan), seven granddaughters, three grandsons, eight great-granddaughters, 13 great-grandsons, and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Billy F. Cranford; son Billy David Cranford; parents Nicholas G. Baggett and Lucretia Baggett (Brewton, Alabama); son-in-law Joseph Mifsud (Brighton, Michigan), sisters Nettie Schulz (Port Charlotte, Florida), Cassie Bell Baggett (Camden, Alabama), Gladys Porter (Foley, Alabama) and Shirley Ann Reddy (Plymouth, Michigan); brothers Edward Baggett (Hoover, Alabama), Allen Baggett (Brewton, Alabama) and Julian Baggett (Carmel, Indiana), three nephews and one niece.
Christine, as she was known by many, was born January 3, 1937 in Brewton, Alabama. When her family moved to Michigan in 1956, she attended Plymouth High School. She worked at local businesses including Cloverdale’s Ice Cream shop. In February 1957 she married Billy Cranford of Hornbeak, Tennessee at the Plymouth Church of Christ. She was a loving and thoughtful full-time mom to their four children, taking in friends of her kids from the neighborhood and school and caring for them. In 1965, Bill started his own construction company with her support.
Chris was loved and admired by neighbors and their kids because she listened, offered her wisdom, and above all gave welcoming affection to each one. Her perennial hospitality, wonderful cooking and delightful baking made our home a favorite place to be. Whenever she was in the kitchen, kids were usually sitting at the bar to hear her stories and watch her make her amazing recipes.
She loved being outside working in her flower gardens that she cultivated over 55 years. She was an active member of the Plymouth Church of Christ, having becoming a Christian in her teen years in Alabama. Her children and their families are forever grateful to God for the finest mom and granny in the world.
