Margaret Bay Collins

Margaret Bay Collins

Margret Bay Collins was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose life was defined by love, service and the care she poured into everyone she touched. Born on August 17, 1951 in Drew, Mississippi, Margaret peacefully transitioned from this life on April 8, 2026 and leaving behind a legacy of strength, faith and devotion to family.

Margret was the cherished daughter of the late Edward Collins, Sr. and Lela Mae Collins. She grew up surrounded by family and shared a lifelong bond with her siblings: six sisters – Charlene Collins, Nancy Byrd, Alice Collins, Patricia Watkins, Debra Collins and Jacqueline Collins and four brothers – Edward Collins, Jr., Michael Collins, Donald Collins and Norman Collins.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents; her brothers Edward Collins, Jr. and Donald Collins; her Aunt Lucille Riley; and her precious grandson, Paul Minor, whom she loved dearly.

As a young woman, Margret made Detroit, Michigan her home. She attended Mackenzie High School and later pursued her passion for cooking by enrolling in culinary school. Cooking wasn’t just a skill for Margret – it was her love language. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter and unforgettable meals. And she took great joy in passing her recipes and traditions down to her children and grandchildren.

Margret’s caring heart extended beyond her family into her work. She served faithfully as a Nursing Assistant at Medico Recovery Center at Eight Mile and Telegraph Roads. Known for her compassion and dedication, she treated every patient with dignity, patience and kindness.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Margret was a devoted member of Bibleway Apostolic Church beginning in 1977. Her commitment to God and service to others led her to become an Ordained Minister, a calling she faithfully fulfilled from 1994-2016. Through her ministry, she touched countless lives with encouragement, prayer, wisdom and love by serving humbly and faithfully in whatever capacity was needed.

Above all else, Margret treasured her role as a mother. She was the proud and loving mother of two daughters – Elisa Marie Minor, wife of Jerome Moss and Marissa Monique Dixon, wife of Daryl Dixon. She leaves behind a family who adored her, including a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed by her wisdom, warmth and endless love.

Margret had a quiet strength, a gentle spirit and a heart that always put others first. She gave love freely, asked for little and found joy in caring for those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her faith, her laughter, her lessons and her love will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As we remember her life and mourn her passing, we find comfort in God’s promise:  “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4

Margret Bay Collins will forever remain in our hearts and her legacy of love will never be forgotten.
