Lissa Joy McCarthy

Lissa Joy McCarthy, wife, mother and grandmother, has peacefully passed away at the age of 61 on August 3 2024, in New Hudson, Michigan. She was born on June 18, 1963, in Fulton, New York, to her parents Clarence and Helen Richardson. 

Lissa leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever. She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years Maurice McCarthy, her five children Daniel (Guadalupe) McCarthy, Benjamin (Nicole) McCarthy, Judah McCarthy, Jael McCarthy, Luke McCarthy, and she was the best grandma ever for her grandson Finnegan McCarthy. Additionally, she is survived by five siblings Andy, Paul, Martin, Melvin, and Matthew. Three of her siblings have preceded her in death, Terry, Daniel, and Pam. She is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews. 

Summing her life were 3 great keys, faith, family, and friends. She was a radical worshipper of God, and extremely and devoted to her family. She lovingly cared for her children, and yet she still made room to provide a safe home for battered women, while her children were still young. She sang on the church team and enjoyed playing her flute. Throughout her life, Lissa touched the hearts of many with her kindness and dedication to her work. Her passion for young people shone through in her role as a library assistant at a local community college. She taught children’s church for many years. She was a gifted artist, loved to be involved in intercessory prayer. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering love for her family. 

Friends may visit at Plymouth Christian Fellowship Church, 8500 Morton Taylor Road North, Canton, Michigan, beginning at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. A service will follow at 4 P.M. in the church. Those wishing to honor Lissa may make a donation in her name to Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, Michigan 48154. Donation envelopes will be available at the church. 

Lissa Joy McCarthy's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was cherished and loved by so many.
