Linda Cheryl Kissman

Linda was a warm, caring, and nurturing woman who loved taking care of the people around her. Family was at the center of her world, and many of the traditions everyone came to count on started with her.

If there was a holiday coming, Linda was baking. She was known for her Scottish shortbread and her sugar cookies, which changed with every holiday and season. Easter meant her bunny rabbit treat bags, lovingly made each year for family and friends. It was simply what Linda did. She showed her love by making things special for the people she cared about.

And if you knew Linda, you knew the song “Linda.” She made sure of it. If she met another Linda, there was a very good chance she would ask if she had been named after the song. And if you hadn't heard it before, chances were Linda was going to tell you about it. It was one of those little things that was so uniquely her. To those who loved her, “Linda” will never be just a name or just a song. It will always bring a smile.

Linda was also a Disney fan, and proudly so. Disney was one of her happy places, and over the last several years she enjoyed multiple trips filled with all the magic and fun she loved so much.

But there was another side to Linda, too. She could go from “Betty Crocker” to “Linda the Rocker.” An avid Rolling Stones fan and concertgoer, Linda saw Mick and the boys in both Detroit and Las Vegas. She loved the music, the excitement and the experience of seeing her favorite band live.

Linda loved the water as well. During the Michigan winters, she could regularly be found pool walking at Aqua-Tots in Canton. When summer arrived, it was time for Colony Swim Club, where she was a member for 47 years, enjoying the sunshine and somehow managing to have quite possibly the best suntan anyone could have.

It was through these everyday routines and the things she loved that Linda also formed wonderful friendships. Whether she was at the pool, traveling, baking something for someone or simply spending time with the people she cared about, Linda brought her warmth and kindness with her.

Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ernest Kissman, her daughter Courtney (Glenn) Fields, her granddaughter Morgan Weld (Garrett Wintergast), her brother W. Scott (Julie) Innes, many loving family members, and her granddogs  "Blue" and "Daisy".

Linda's family and friends will miss her baking and holiday traditions, her Disney adventures, her Rolling Stones spirit, her legendary suntan and all those little things that made her unmistakably Linda.

Most of all, they will miss her: her kindness, her nurturing spirit, her presence and the love she gave so freely.

The traditions Linda created will continue. Her recipes will be baked, her stories will be told, Disney will still bring her to mind, a Rolling Stones song will undoubtedly be played a little louder, and whenever someone hears the song “Linda,” there will be a reason to smile.

Because if you knew Linda, you knew the song.  And if you knew Linda, you knew you were loved.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Linda Kissman on Monday, August 10, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan.
