Lie-Hua Weng

Lie-Hua Weng, age 87 of Canton, Michigan passed away on May 3, 2024.

Lie-Hua was born on March 26, 1937 in Taipei, Taiwan to her parents, the late Wu-Jian Lee and Liang-Sen Lee

She is the beloved and devoted wife of Jen-Shan Weng; loving mother of two daughters, Julia Weng (husband Ian Wall) and Alice Weng; and proud grandmother of Jacob Wall and Zachary Wall.

Lie-Hua grew up in Taiwan and became a teacher at Kaohsiung Girls Senior High School. She supported her parents and younger siblings by giving them her earnings; to this day, her siblings remember how her generosity enabled them to buy uniforms and other supplies for their schooling. While at Kaoshiung, she met her future husband and fellow teacher, Jen-Shan. They would be married for over 60 years.

After immigrating to and adopting the U.S. as her new home, Lie-Hua had to start over. Despite not knowing English well, she completed her Associate Degree at Wayne County Community College and Bachelor of Science Degree at Eastern Michigan University while raising her two daughters and working part-time.  She enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Computer Lab Assistant, where she was proud of the work she did and the people she worked with. While her career was an important part of her life, her greatest joy was found in her family and network of friends. Favorite pastimes included sharing delicious food, playing mah jong, and trying her luck at the casino.

Lie-Hua is predeceased by her father, mother, and oldest brother. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, two grandsons, three brothers, three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her memory will live on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched along the way.
