Les Bookout, age 83 of Plymouth passed away on March 22, 2026.
Les was born on January 5, 1943 in Huntington, Tennessee to his parents, the late Bertha (née Reeder) and Walter Bookout.
He is the beloved and devoted husband of 51 years to Rose (née Medeiros) Bookout; loving father of three children – Timothy (Drucilla) Bookout, Shane (Jen) Bookout, and Brandon (Angelina Ping) Bookout; proud grandfather of E.J. Bookout, Benjamin Bookout, Gabriel Bookout, Abby Bookout, Sam Bookout, and Rease Cobb. Cherished brother to Marie Eckridge and Linda (John) Houghton. Proceeded by siblings James (Norma) Bookout, Sue (the late Mike) Raptosh, Tommy Bookout, and Harry (the late Betty) Bookout.
Les proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his military service, he achieved the rank of Specialist and served as an 8‑inch howitzer Chief of Section, Battery C 1st Battalion 36th Artillery. After completing his military service, he began a remarkable 43‑year career with Ford Motor Company. There, he became a skilled trades cutter grinder, known for his precision, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, he will be remembered for his kindness, humility, unwavering dedication to his beliefs, and the quiet strength he brought to every chapter of his life. He cherished time with family and friends, finding joy in simple moments and offering support without hesitation.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 P.M.
Les will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth, Michigan.
