Kayla Michelle Flanigan, born on June 12, 1989, in Dearborn, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2025, in South Lyon, Michigan. She was 36 years old.
Kayla is survived by her loving parents, Michael Flanigan and Renee Nott, and her brother, Kevin Michael Flanigan. She also leaves behind many loving cousins, friends, and their families, all of whom will cherish her memory.
Kayla was a dedicated professional who made significant contributions in her role as a Finance Analyst Supervisor at Ford Motor Company. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kayla was someone whose presence made life warmer, funnier, and more beautiful. A proud Oakland University alum, she completed both her bachelor’s and Master’s in Finance and Accounting while working full time—a reflection of her discipline, intelligence, and quiet determination.
Kayla made her home in South Lyon, where she loved hosting friends, generously making over-the-top spreads that kept everyone laughing around her kitchen island for hours. Her quick wit, sarcasm, and contagious laugh made her the heartbeat of every gathering. Kayla could turn even an ordinary moment into a hilarious story, and she never let anyone take themselves too seriously.Travel was one of her greatest joys. She was always ready for a spontaneous flight, a new adventure, or a perfect margarita with friends. She loved warm weather, Bravo TV—especially the Real Housewives—Taylor Swift, and cheering for her Detroit Lions. Her friends adored her quirks: falling asleep in seconds, parking impossibly far away to protect her car, and claiming the front seat on every drive to avoid carsickness.
Kayla was deeply generous and thoughtful. She was the first to check in when someone was struggling, the friend who remembered every detail, and an exceptional gift giver. Every year, she quietly and wholeheartedly participated in “Adopt an Angel”–style holiday programs, choosing children to sponsor and making sure they received gifts that made them feel seen and celebrated. She adored her dogs, past and present, and took great joy in being “aunt” to her friends’ children and pets—always showing up with toys, treats, and genuine excitement.
She lived with a bold, loving authenticity that made others feel lighter and more themselves. To know Kayla was to feel supported, understood, and truly loved. Her family and friends will forever carry her humor, generosity, and vibrant spirit in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, located at 280 S. Main St, Plymouth, MI 48170.
