Karen Christina Davenport, age 62 of Plymouth passed away on December 10, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1963 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Dorothy (Agnes Hinrichs) and the late James Oliver Davenport. Karen is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by Dorothy, sister Kathryn (Barry) Green, her nephews, James (Rachel) Green and David Green, as well as her Aunt Kay Collins and many cousins.
Starting out in social work and working within a group home, Karen went back to college and worked as a CPA and then later as a controller for a local plumbing and heating company. Outside of school and work, she put all of her time to family and to singing.
Karen loved spending time with her family, especially on adventures and traveling, and insisted on family celebrations of all birthdays and holidays. Also so very important to Karen were her pups, and throughout her life she always had at least one at her side to spoil. Her close “extended” family grew after college to include members of the Sweet Adelines chorus with whom she sang for 34 years. Always on the risers singing and helping behind the scenes with chorus administration, Karen especially loved competing with her chorus, and taking side sight-seeing trips before each of those outside of Michigan.
Karen was a gentle ray of sunshine that will forever be missed. Soft-spoken and always the most positive person in any room, she had a huge heart and fiercely stood by and fought for her ideals, family and friends.
A visitation to honor Karen’s life will be held on December 15, 2025, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth. Sweet Adelines will sing at 7:00 that evening, and a funeral service will be held at the funeral home on December 16, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor the memory of Karen are invited to consider a contribution to the Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia or the Motor City Blend Chapter of Sweet Adelines International. For those who’d like a different way to remember Karen and her love of nature and being outdoors, please know the family would be thrilled to know of trees planted in her name: Any kind and placed anywhere, to grow in her memory, share joy and live on for years to come.
