Joyce Thomson

Joyce Louise Forshee Thomson of Northville passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital with her family by her side. She was 89. 

Joyce was born at Florence Crittenton Hospital on February 1, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Vern Parker and Bertha Mae (Balliet) Forshee.

Joyce graduated in 1952 from Plymouth High School. During her high school years, she was a cheerleader. After high school, she graduated from Cleary College with a Secretarial Science Associate’s degree. After college, she worked as an Executive Secretary at Fisher Body in Livonia.

Joyce was a stay-at-home mom for many years while her boys were in school. Joyce eventually went back to work as a Teller with Michigan National Bank. She also helped manage Choo Choo Car Wash, the family business. Joyce’s greatest joys were her two sons and her grandchildren. She was proud of each of them and was their biggest supporter at any event or sports activity.

She is survived by her sons: Robert of Pinckney and James of Northville, and grandchildren:  Bobby, Jenna, Olivia and Nolan. Joyce is also survived by her sister, Joanne Hutson of Livonia, and nieces Debbie and Darlene, many cousins and life-long friends.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Bertha Forshee, and stepson, Michael Thomson.

The viewing and service will be on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main St., Plymouth, MI 48170. The viewing will be from 3:00-5:00pm and the service will be at 5:00pm.

A private memorial will be held at Oakland Hills Cemetery, Novi, on Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11:00am, for her immediate family and close friends who wish to attend.
