Joyce dedicated over 36 years of her life to the nursing profession, leaving an indelible mark on her community. Her passion for caring for others earned her numerous accolades, notably the prestigious Nurse of the Year Award for Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 2009, a testament to her exceptional skills and compassionate nature.
Joyce was not only a remarkable nurse but also a beloved wife and mother. She is survived by her devoted husband, Johannes Arnold, and her beloved children, Mia and Kaia. In addition, she will be deeply missed by her siblings: Jorshenelle (Michael) Pilarski, Jerome (Jessica) Esteban, Jay (the late Gail) Esteban, and John Esteban. Joyce also leaves behind her treasured nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Justin Pilarski, Jordan Esteban, and Jaena Esteban, who will forever remember her warmth and love.
Her love for family was evident in the cherished memories she created, particularly during family trips and time spent together at their family cottage up North. Joyce had a zest for life that extended beyond her profession; she adored reading and could always be found with a book in hand and her favorite cat in her lap. She enjoyed traveling, whether on vacations or girls’ trips, which brought her joy, adventure, and created cherished everlasting family memories.
Joyce's personality radiated light. She was extraordinarily kind, sweet, and bubbly, always lifting the spirits of those around her. Her ability to find joy in the simplest moments, whether it was a shared laugh or a warm hug, was a gift she readily offered to others. With a strong and distinct spirit, Joyce embodied loyalty and love, always ready to care for those in need.
Her parents, Erlinda Fajardo and Paciano Esteban, preceded her in death, leaving behind a legacy of strength and resilience that Joyce carried forward throughout her life.
