Joyce Ann (McKendree) Silber

Joyce Ann (McKendree) Silber passed away February 1, 2022 in her home peacefully from a stroke. She was the beloved wife of Robert, her husband of 57 years; a loving mother of Juli (Dave) Musch, Jani Thomas, Jeri Grieco; an adored grandmama of Sara (Nathan) & Abigail, Cole, Joy, & Judy, and Matthew. She is also survived by her sisters, Beverly (Gary) Weltzien and Sandy (Gary) Zimmerman and sisters-in-law Gail Bock and Gemma Silber.
Joyce was born on March 23, 1942, in Mt. Healthy, Ohio to Garrel & Lucy McKendree. She graduated from Miami University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and received her Master of Education from Eastern Michigan University. As a member of the Delta Zeta’s Alpha chapter, she received her Golden Rose in 2011. She was a dedicated teacher for 35 years and received the Teacher of the Year from Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. She was also a gifted pianist teaching many students. Throughout her life, she always said yes or maybe, keeping the doors open for possibilities. Joyce was the rock of her family. No matter where they lived, she made their house a home, providing comfort and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed yet will continue to live within our hearts.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Kirk in the Hills, 1340 West Long Lake Road., Bloomfield Hills, MI with a Celebration of Life following at the TPC Country Club, 1 Nicklaus Dr. in Dearborn, MI. The service will be livestreamed at www.kirkinthehills.org. Click the “Worship from Home” tab to watch beginning at 11:25 am.
A graveside service will be held on August 13, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Arlington Cemetery, 2145 Compton Rd. Mt. Healthy, OH. A celebration of her life will follow at Fox Knoll Pavilion of Winton Woods beginning at 12:00 PM.
