John "Huggy Bear" R. Marshall

John R. Marshall, age 90, passed away on February 1, 2026.

He was born in Elyria, Ohio on September 21, 1935 to his parents, the late Rose (née Margelish) and Jack Marshall.

He is the beloved and devoted husband of the late Patricia Ann (née Hancock) Marshall. She passed away on June 15, 2013. He is the loving father of his only child - John H. (Mary) Marshall. Anyone who knew John knew him as “Huggy Bear” and his wife Patricia also was affectionately known as “Hula Bear”.

John enjoyed a very successful career before his retirement from Ford Motor Company. After his retirement, his love for travel led him to opening a travel agency specializing in cruises. It was a fun and dynamic second career. He and Patricia enjoyed staying active and helping others plan vacations. His flexible schedule allowed him and Patricia to combine business and personal travel experiences.

During his career in the Travel and Tourism business, he was an active member of the Plymouth Lions Club – a community-focused service organization dedicated to charitable initiatives in the Greater Plymouth area and focused on vision preservation.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 P.M. led by Reverend Robert Miller of Plymouth First United Methodist Church of Plymouth.

Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth, Michigan.
