John Elliott
Flanigan
Mar 26, 1948 — May 22, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of John E. Flanigan, 78, on May 22, 2026. Known for his strength, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family, John leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be deeply cherished by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Pam; his daughter, Kellie (Don); his son, Glen; his sister, Patricia (Gary); his brother, Michael; extended family; and many dear friends.
John loved baseball from a young age and enjoyed both playing and following the game throughout his life, while also remaining a loyal Detroit Red Wings fan. He found great joy in woodworking, spending time on his tractors, tending to the many acres he cared for over the years, and being at the family’s summer cottage on the lake. Whether boating on the water or sharing stories and laughter with friends and family, those moments brought him some of life’s greatest happiness. He also seemed to know how to fix just about anything, and people often turned to him when something needed to be repaired or figured out.
A man of few words, John was genuine and straightforward, never pretending to be anything other than himself. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always knew how to make people laugh, often entertaining family and friends with his clever little tricks and jokes. His kindness, unwavering devotion to family, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private interment service will be held for immediate family in honor of John and his military service.
