John A. Ashton

John Allan Ashton, age 87 of Canton, passed away on July 22, 2022.  He was born in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, the late Alfred (“Bert") and Velma (née Culbert) Ashton, and brother, Richard.

John was the devoted husband of Nancy, his wife of 57 years, who passed away in December 2017; the loving father of Jeff, Steve, Joel (Kris), and Jenny (Bryan) Ashton Worwa; and the proud grandfather of Aaron, Jack, Charles, Alicia (Tyler) Ashton-Mayer, Jillian, Claire, Meredith (Ben) Solak, Rowan, Chad (Christina), Jason, Grace, Joshua and Natalie.

John, known as “Jack” to family, friends and colleagues, spent his summers as a young man at his grandparents’ farm in Canada.  In 1958, he graduated from the Detroit College of Law and practiced law in Plymouth at Draugelis & Ashton for many years.  He enjoyed spending time at Crystal Lake, traveling and was an avid reader.

Visitation will be at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 11:00 am.

John will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.
