Jeanette (Jay) Persich, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 6, 2024, at the age of 94. She was born on February 12, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio to her parents, Kelly and Abriza Kassim.
Jay is preceded in death by her husband Stanley, one brother, and two sisters. Her children survive her: Sean Kahlil, Mona (Bill) Applegate, Alexa (Phil) McGrew, and Brian Kalliel.
Jay was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Brett McGrew, Brandy (Phil) Suchyta, Brittany (Chris) Hall, Zach (Kerry) Applegate, Kali (Sean) Hagerty, and Alea Applegate. Monique Canti, Leila Kalliel, and Hana Kalliel.
There are nine great-grandchildren: Tatiana Canti, Hunter Applegate, Breelyn McGrew, Seamus Hagerty, Jake McGrew, Tessa Jay Hagerty, Riah (Alea) Porkorny, Zayah Porkorny, and our new beautiful arrival, Collins Alexa Hall. Jay cherished every moment spent with them.
Jay and Stan always danced anytime, anywhere, every opportunity. In the kitchen, as soon as music started playing, they would later travel to perform square and round dancing. They were graceful and beautiful to watch, wearing intricate costumes Jay created. Jay was an accomplished seamstress, from sewing school clothes when her children were young to loving making baby clothes for her grandchildren. Avid golfer Jay was rather talented. She was highly competitive; she loved playing 500, batting, catching, cribbage, cards, and all games, and never giving another player, even a child, a break. You had to earn it! She is remembered by all she met for her humor and love. All of which she shared gladly.
She has left us with many funny, sad, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
