Jean D. Scheppele

August 5, 1928 — November 16, 2018

Jean Darlene Scheppele, 90, of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2018 at Angela Hospice. Jean was born August 5, 1928 near Northville, Michigan to the late Roy and Enid Scheppele. She was the youngest surviving child of the Scheppele family, which included the late Betty (Russell Miller) Fick and the late Robert (Esther Mettetal) Scheppele. The family spent Jean’s early years near Northville and later moved to Plymouth, where she graduated from Plymouth High School and spent much of her career working for Michigan Bell. Following her retirement, she dedicated much of her time to the exhibits and programs at the Plymouth Historical Museum, building upon the family’s long-time service to Plymouth and the surrounding area. During her life, Jean served as a long-term companion to her mother, a steadfast friend to her siblings, and a beloved aunt to her 14 nieces and nephews. As a great aunt and beyond, Jean supported the extended family as an additional grandmother figure, mentor, and friend. Jean loved to travel, read, and study history, while building on a legacy of faith, love, and service of generations before her. She will always be remembered for her cookies, potato salad, and contagious smile by all who knew her.
The family will hold private services in the coming week. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 20450 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, Michigan 48076 or the Plymouth Historical Society (Plymouth Historical Museum), 155 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan 48170.
