James R. Verkerke

James R. Verkerke, age 92 of Plymouth passed away on November 19, 2025.

Jim was born on February 27, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, the late Marjorie Plewes and Robert Verkerke.

Jim was the beloved and devoted husband to the late Lillian Verkerke. Loving father of 5 children-the late Michael Verkerke, Suzanne (Michael) Duffy, Daniel (Karen) Verkerke, Paul Verkerke and Ann Pitser along with 4 step children-Deborah Wilson, Sandy (Kurt) Nickol, Steve (Jackie) Petrovich and Sue (John) Conklin. He had 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grand children.

Jim retired in 2001 from a long, successful career in Real Estate and the Mortgage Industry. He built far more than businesses- he built opportunities. As an entrepreneur, he forged his own path, guided by his passion for justice and equality for all. His dedication left a meaningful impact on the communities he touched.

His personal and business relationships were the foundation of his success and a testament to the way he lived. James will be remembered for his moral courage, his love for his wife and family, and the countless lives he uplifted simply by knowing him.

We mourn the loss of Jim Verkerke, but we also celebrate the incredibly legacy he leaves behind.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth MI on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 5:00 P.M.
