James Bruce Ratkos

On Friday, November 25th, James Bruce Ratkos of Plymouth, Michigan passed away. James was 38 years old. James is survived by his spouse, Nathan, his parents, Bruce and Catherine, and siblings, Thom (Victoria) and Jacqueline. James will also be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he made all over the world as a member of many online communities. 

James possessed a unique brilliance, competing in chess tournaments against adults before he became a teenager. He was a devoted student of history, consumed countless books across many genres, and unstoppable in any game of trivia or viewing of Jeopardy. James loved animals and was preceded in death by his cat, “Callie”, who James found and rescued as a newborn kitten.

James’ loved ones will grieve privately in lieu of a funeral. Those who would like to express their support are encouraged to make a donation in James’ memory to the American Association of Suicide Prevention
