Helen Merrill

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Helen Merrill, passed away on September 11, 2023. 

Helen was born to Paul and Cozy Tagtmeyer in Columbia City, Indiana on June 12, 1934. In search of a life off the farm, Helen pursued a career as a stewardess and relocated to Chicago to work for North Central Airlines.  It was also in Chicago that she met the love of her life, Ken, to whom she was married for 56 years. 

Ken and Helen had 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Helen was a strong-willed woman with outstanding taste and style as well as an insatiable appetite for travel and adventure.  Helen deeply cherished her family and friends always showing tremendous generosity and a fantastic sense of humor. 

Helen’s funeral will be at St John's Episcopal Church, 574 Sheldon Road, Plymouth Michigan at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 14.  Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Crossroads of Michigan, 2424 West Grand Blvd, Detroit Michigan 48208.  Contribution envelopes will be available at the Church.
