Gladys Powers

Gladys Powers, age 89, of Plymouth, Michigan passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Gladys was a lifelong resident of Plymouth and loved this community. She worked at the Plymouth-Canton School District until she retired in 1998 and spent some time in Florida before returning to her beloved Plymouth.

Gladys was a faithful, practicing member of the Catholic Church; having a strong relationship with the Lord.

Gladys loved her family above all else. She was a great Mom and Nana who was always ready to help and up for any adventure! Gladys loved to play euchre, bowl and play golf. She and Jim Powers spent many years playing in leagues and could be found on the course most summer evenings. Gladys and Jim Brown had many adventures traveling throughout the US and spent winters in Florida enjoying the sunshine. Gladys, along with Ilene Herriman and Janet Lanphear, planned a lot of family time to ensure all the Powers/Herriman/Lanphear cousins would grow up knowing each other. Many lasting memories were made during all the fun times together.

Gladys was so proud of her family and loved them all endlessly, she ended every text or email with ‘Love my family.’ She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Gladys leaves behind a legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Sheila (Rudy) Carriere, Amy (Mike; Luke) Trainowski, Susan (Richard) Carlson, Kelly (Scott; Emma, Lily, Anna, Clayton) Thomas, Alan (Mandi; Elle, Jack, Matilda) Carlson, James (Tracey) Powers, Andy (Charlotte, Emilia) Powers, Beth (Andy; Ethan, Lilly) Biddle, Carol (Ash; Elin Thompson, Harrison, Matilda) Smith, John Powers, John Jr (Melanie; Dean, Cody, Tori) Powers, Jim (Caitlyn) Powers, Shannon Powers, Jeremiah (Kaitlyn) Powers, Summer (Joseph Brungardt) Powers, Shelby Powers, Jeff (Kathy) Powers, Jake (Molly; Emma, Addison, Nolan) Powers, Kayla (Grant Goulet) Powers, Adam (Chrissy; Beau, Luna) Powers, Leah Powers, Sandra (Stan) Powers-Boyd.

Gladys is also survived by her brother Jerry Robertson and sister-in-law Janice, whom she always considered her sister, brother Guy Robertson; multiple cousins, nieces and nephews who all loved their Aunt Gladys (Aunt Bitsy); her best friend, Evelyn Logsdon, and their group of ladies with whom she had so much fun.

Gladys was preceded in death by her infant son, Tommy; her husband and high school sweetheart, Jim Powers; her dear companion, Jim Brown; her sisters, Beverly Robertson, Bobby Shettleroe; brothers Bill Robertson, Jim Robertson, Mike Robertson, Steve Robertson.
