Elizabeth Couchois Heatherwick, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away at the age of 66 years on August 30, 2024 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Along with her identical twin sister, she was born to William Joy and Jane Francis (Dillon) Couchois on October 1, 1957, in San Diego, California. Elizabeth led a life filled with compassion and commitment to helping others.

Elizabeth earned her Bachelors of Science Nursing Degree, which paved the way for a fruitful career as a registered nurse at local hospitals. Her profession was not just a job; it was a calling that exemplified her nurturing spirit and her desire to make a difference in the lives of her patients and their families.

She shared her life with her beloved husband of 29 years, William Heatherwick. Together, they nurtured a family that included three daughters, Barbara (Andrew) Demske, Brittany (Joseph Lysakowski) Kay, Lauren (David) Sanchez, and a son, Ryan Heatherwick. Elizabeth took immense pride in her role as a mother, guiding and supporting her children through the various stages of life.

A doting grandmother, Elizabeth leaves a legacy of love and joy in the hearts of her grandchildren: Liam Demske, Nolan Demske, Finley Demske, Isla Demske, Eugene Lysakowski, David Lysakowski, and Dillon Sanchez. Her family meant the world to her, and she cherished the moments spent with them. 

Born into the Couchois family, Elizabeth was one of six siblings. She is survived by her brothers Michael Couchois, Patrick (CC) Couchois, and Chris (Sharon) Couchois, as well as her sister Mary (Tom) Lim-Cordner. Notably, she shared a unique bond with her identical twin sister, Barbara (Gerd Meissner) Couchois, creating memories that transcended time.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Schrader -Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, Michigan. Prior to the Mass, family and friends also will have an opportunity to pay their respects beginning at 9:00 A.M.
