Duane Gordon Dipert

Duane G. Dipert, age 82, passed away March 22, 2023. He was born December 20, 1940 in Gary, Indiana to his parents, the late Gordon and Alice Dipert (nee Dargis).  He was a loving husband to Nancy Dipert (nee Long). They had originally met in first grade and then reconnected when they went to Merrillville High School together. They had been together ever since and  were married for 58 years. He is survived by his two daughters Michele Kodrik and Melissa Dipert, his granddaughter Sophie Browe, sister-in-law Merikay Long, and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Dipert.

Duane enjoyed a successful 36-year career at Ford as an Engineer and Project Manager. Duane was a man of many hobbies.  He was an avid golfer, enjoyed skiing, bowling, sailing, and even scuba diving.  He was  a member  of  the former Ford Sea Lancers Scuba Club and  volunteered to help instruct students in the pool.  Duane channeled his passion for boat racing by volunteering for over 40 years with the Detroit River Regatta Association which produced the annual APBA Gold Cup event featuring hydroplane racing. His proudest bowling moment came when he bowled a perfect 300 game at age 71. He loved to keep busy and stay active well into retirement.  Duane was loved and will be missed by many.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home,  280 South Main Street,  Plymouth, Michigan on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. with a funeral service starting at 12:00 P.M.
