Dorothy L. Romej, age 106 passed away on November 23, 2025.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 3, 1919 to her parents, the late Clara (née Young) and Eugene Harrison. She is the beloved and devoted wife of the late Leonard Romej; loving mother of two children – Leonard (Kathleen) Romej and Ronald Romej and proud grandmother of Troy (Vanessa) Romej, Tanya (Daniel) Neubauer, Todd Romej; great-grandmother to Alyvia Romej, Ava Romej, Sofia Romej, Julia Neubauer, Daniel Neubauer, Jordan Johnson and great-great-grandmother of Paizley.
Dorothy passed away peacefully after 106 extraordinary years. She leaves a legacy shaped by more than a century of love, resilience, and cherished memories as well as countless moments that defined a truly impressive life filled with wisdom, warmth, and strength.
As a young woman, she was proud to contribute to the nation’s war effort by joining the ranks of the “Rosie the Riveters”. working at Kelsey-Hayes during World War II, a chapter of her life she remembered with great pride, knowing she helped support the war effort during a pivotal moment in history.
It was her dedication during those years that reflected the strength and determination that carried her through the century that followed.
She married the love of her life, Leonard Romej and together they raised their beautiful family. When grandchildren came along, she was overjoyed with excitement as her family continued to grow.
Her beloved Leonard went home to be with the Lord in 1979. She has been widowed 46 years.
Dorothy was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as friends and extended family members will miss her dearly and cherish their memories of her forever. Her life was marked by devotion to family and the values she held dear.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 beginning at 10:00 A.M.
Dorothy will be laid to rest at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
