Dorothy Mae Molchan, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on February 21, 2026, in Canton, Michigan. Born on March 26, 1941, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Dorothy filled the world around her with warmth and love throughout her cherished life of nearly 85 years.
Dorothy was a devoted daughter of Clarence and Lishia Gray, who have preceded her in passing, but whose loving influence shaped her into the incredible woman she became. Her spirit lives on in her children and their families, each of whom carry a piece of her heart in their lives.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Valarie Molchan, and her dear son, George (Andrea) Molchan. Dorothy’s legacy shines brightly through her grandchildren: Amber (Kevin) Boksa, Victoria (Alex) Thompson, Hannah (Chris) Wolak, Colin Studer, Jeffrey Molchan, Matthew Molchan, Michael Molchan, and Brian Molchan. Each grandchild not only adored their grandmother but also treasured the countless memories they created together, from family gatherings filled with laughter to the quiet moments spent sharing stories.
Her joy continued to multiply with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, including Dottie Boksa, Maggie Boksa, Blake Thompson, and Owen Wolak. Their innocent laughter and playful spirits were a source of endless delight for Dorothy, who relished every opportunity to guide and nurture them.
Throughout her life, Dorothy's compassionate heart touched everyone she met. She embodied love and kindness, and her legacy of caring for others will forever resonate within her family and friends. As they reflect on her remarkable life, each of them carries forward the lessons she imparted: the importance of family, the joy of connection, and the beauty of simple moments shared.
As they bid farewell to their cherished matriarch, Dorothy leaves behind a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unbreakable bonds. Her memory will forever be etched in their hearts, guiding them with strength as they navigate life without her physical presence. In their collective mourning, they celebrate the precious gift of her life, knowing that she will always be with them in spirit.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
