Donald Detmer

Donald Detmer, age 89 of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marilyn Detmer; his infant twin sons, John Thomas and Thomas John Detmer; and he leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory. He is lovingly survived by his children, Dianne (Kevin) Suppelsa, Mark Detmer, Michael (Lisa) Detmer, and Nancy (Mark) Katulski. He was a proud grandfather to Christopher Suppelsa, Matthew Suppelsa, Justin Katulski, Hailey Katulski, Jonathan Suppelsa, Nickalus Detmer, Zachary Detmer, and Alexander Detmer, all of whom brought him tremendous joy.

Don retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years as a Financial Cost Analyst. Retiring at age 55, he and Marilyn embraced every opportunity to travel and attend their grandchildren's birthdays, sporting events, and graduations. Nothing could keep them away from celebrating the milestones of those they loved.

A man of deep faith, Don devoted his life to God, his family, and his parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. He found great comfort in Adoration and took joy in serving his church community.

When he was not with family or at church, Don could often be found on the golf course with his boys or enjoying a day watching the game he loved. He treasured the lifelong friendships he built through the years and especially enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and camaraderie with his dear golfing buddies. On rainy mornings, when golf was not in the cards, Don could often be found gathered around a breakfast table with friends, enjoying good conversation and what was undoubtedly his favorite meal of the day.

Above all, Don's greatest joy was his family. He led by example through his faith, humility, kindness, and unwavering love, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Don's life.

Visitation will be held at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation will take place at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, on Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
