David Richard, 78, of Dexter, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is survived by his dear friend and ex-wife Karen Henninger, of Saline, MI, mother of his sons, Erik (Stacy) of Jackson, MI, and Jeffrey (Pennesha) of Lakeland, Florida, grandchildren Machaela, Gabrielle, Timothy, Tyler, Ryan, Jayden, Christian, and Chloe, sister Nancy Earle (Dan), brother Mike (Deborah), and close friends Bonnie Healed and Sherry Bauer.

David was born in Harrisville, MI, on July 9, 1947, to H.B. and Doris Richard. The family relocated to Plymouth, where David grew up. He was a Seabee in U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam. David was a man of adventure, often taking long trips out west to hike in places like Yellowstone National Park, armed only with a camera. He was a man of many skills from electrical to telephone lines to woodworking. He enjoyed collecting and restoring old toy trucks and tractors, kayaking and fishing on the lakes around Dexter, and playing cards with his friends. Above all, David loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his sons and his grandchildren.
