David Herron

David Herron, beloved husband, father, and papa, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, in Novi, Michigan, at the age of 87. He was born on February 20, 1939, in Haleyville, Alabama.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Eleanor. He is also survived by his daughters Catherine Herron, Cari (David) Mengel, and Kelly (Gregory) Stroker. David’s commitment to his family was absolute; his daughters remember him as a steadfast presence, always offering wise counsel, gentle encouragement, and boundless affection.

He took particular delight in his role as Papa to Nicholas and Alex Mengel. David’s grandsons, inspired by his warmth, unique laugh and jokes will hold fond memories of time spent together.

He was known for his casual, laid back manner. David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After a career in the auto industry David became the owner of Plymouth Train Shop in downtown Plymouth Michigan for many years.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember David Herron during a visitation on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St, Plymouth, MI 48170. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the same location. Please dress casually and comfortably as Dave always did!

Dave leaves a legacy of love, devotion, and gentle strength. Though deeply missed, his memory will endure in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
