Cynthia Lucille Lattin, aged 95, passed away on May 8, 2026, after a brief hospital stay. Beloved daughter of Lucille and Michael Danczuk, sister of Roy (Gertrude) Danczuk and Shirley (Henry) Slominski. Dear wife of Thomas Lattin, loving mother of Anne (Mitchell) Saywitz, Karen (Bruce) Morey and Robert (Susan Hunt) Lattin. Wonderful grandmother to Robin, Lilly, Alex, Ren, Katie and Thomas and cherished aunt and great aunt to many. She made friends easily, in her neighborhood, her social dance group, church, and with people she met on her many travels.
Cynthia was an accomplished piano player who loved to play everything from Chopin to Scott Joplin. An ace stenographer, speedy typist, and top administrative assistant, she spent her career in the auto industry from Hearst Advertising to the Big 3 auto companies located in Detroit. Along the way, she volunteered for many community organizations, from local 5K races to the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City. She had the ability to provide exactly what someone needed, at exactly the moment they needed it, whether it was a kind word, a handwritten note, help with your wedding dress or stripping the wallpaper in your house.
She was always active, horse back riding, tap dancing, ballroom dancing, roller skating, cross country skiing, gardening and taking long walks in her neighborhood. In her later years she traveled the world, but her favorite place was her cottage in Traverse City and the national parks. She never missed an opportunity to suggest a trip to explore Zion, Yellowstone or Yosemite.
We will celebrate her life on June 20 at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy or the National Parks Foundation.
